My Skincare Routine

Today I will be sharing with you my skincare routine and how I got rid of my cystic acne. I would show pics but they are too embarrassing for me to show them maybe I will who knows.

I developed cystic acne the summer of 2014; I have never had acne before in my life all of a sudden I just started seeing these big pimples popping up on my face. I changed my cleanser that didn't work. I finally got fed up and decided to go to the dermatologist, I went and that was a fail also and a waste of money. I tried everything I could find to try to clear my face up but nothing worked.

I started doing some thorough research on what I could do. I started gearing towards more natural products I was using a natural line it started clearing my face up but then it started making my face get really dark so I stopped using it. I knew I had used cetaphil years before but I didn't like it, so I decided to try it again. This cleanser is my miracle worker, I am happy the day I decided to try it again

MY SKINCARE ROUTINE

The cleanser I use is the cetaphil cleanser, you can use either the bar soap or the liquid cleanser, I rather the bar soap. I use this morning and night and I also use it to remove my makeup.

After I cleanse my face I like to tone my skin with witch hazel. A lot of people don’t tone their skin after cleansing because that’s their preference but I highly recommend toning especially for persons with oily skin.

Three times out of the week I scrub my face I put baking soda in my hand and mix it with my cleanser and scrub my face, since lately I have been mostly using sugar scrub instead of mixing the baking soda with my cleanser. The baking soda is also good at removing blackheads from your face and fading dark spots. If I have a pimple coming out I just wet the area and put a little baking soda on it and it dries up the pimple in no time.

Some people mask their face once for the week I do it twice. First time on the weekend and the second time during the week. The masks I use are Queen Helene mint julep mask or honey. Sometimes I combine the two together which works marvelous. I found a pic of both the old packaging and the new packaging.

For moisturizer I use the aveeno clear complexion moisturizer. To help in clearing my acne I also use retin-A the lowest percentage. Sometimes at nights I will moisturize with raw shea butter depending on how my face is feeling plus I’m not really a fan of the scent so I hardly use it.

This is my simple but effective skincare routine. I am in no way a skincare professional, I’m just sharing with you guys what works for me and hope someone finds it informative.

For sunscreen i also recommend the aveeno positively radiant spf moisturizer or the cetaphil spf moisturizer.

This is what works for me I saw a lot of difference in my skin after I started this routine in 2014 and I have been using it ever since,My skin has been clear for the most part, I get a pimple here and there but nothing that’s out of control. Right now I am trying to focus on clearing the few dark spots I have left.

  2. I had the same problem - no skin troubles until I hit my 20s then I started to suffer with acne. I'm currently having success with Proactiv but I'm really intrigued with your routine so I've taken a lot of your tips on board, especially the Cetaphil and baking soda scrub x

  13. Thanks for the tips Kerona! I also have some acne, but in my case it appears almost always when I eat too much chocolate or junkfood. Or in summer because of the sweat.
Btw! Thanks for your comment in my blog: I'm glad you liked it! I hope you come back soon :)

  14. It's funny how many people I hear say that the dermatologist was a waste of time. They didn't help me much either. The stuff they suggest tends to be so harsh that I wouldn't want to use it anyway. Glad you found something that works for you love. :-)

  16. Great skincare routine. I had the same problem when I hit my 20s as well, I had no skin troubles and then all of a sudden I started to suffer with acne. At that time, I used Proactiv which worked amazing for me and it all cleared up. I am however in my 30s now, had two kids and thank God, I don't break out anymore. Just the annoying 1 or 2 pimples here and there but it is very rare and they go away after a couple days. I also don't have a sweet tooth anymore and have since became a vegetarian and cut out cow's milk so I think those things have helped a lot. xo
